Athletics
At Carter High School, athletics and academics work hand in hand to develop well-rounded student-athletes. Our athletic program provides meaningful opportunities for students to grow, set goals, and pursue excellence—on the field, in the classroom, and in life.
Carter High offers a competitive athletic program that complements our academic mission. Our teams emphasize hard work, teamwork, perseverance, and citizenship, instilling values that extend far beyond the game and prepare students for future success.
We are committed to helping every athlete reach their full potential both academically and athletically while fostering personal growth, leadership, and responsibility. Student-athletes are expected to maintain good sportsmanship, attend and actively participate in class, and demonstrate respect for peers, faculty, and staff.
To participate in games or practices, athletes must be present at school for at least 3 hours and 15 minutes that day, in accordance with Knox County Board policy.
Students interested in competing at the collegiate level should begin NCAA Clearinghouse registration by the end of their sophomore year. Because not all high school courses are NCAA-approved, student-athletes are encouraged to work closely with the Counseling Department to plan their academic schedules. Additional information and support are available through the Counseling Office.
